Protection from rodents 🐿🐁🛡🗡 (2025)

My Jeep has no covers whatsoever. Even a cat could crawl into the engine bay. Rodents are attracted to the warmth of Mother Pentastar in the winter. So this is how I keep the ridents at bay. Repel All around my front tires that will make them If they get near. So far it has worked great. ZERO rodent activity.

How do you guys do it?

I've not heard of that stuff, but I like the idea. I've used moth-balls and not had much luck in that regard.

I looked at the Bonide site; they have several products. Any reason you chose that one over the Rat (rodent) granules?

This Repel All lists many animals. And it is easily available at Home Depot. It smells nasty and lasts a long time. I am trying to formulate my own compound with like garlic, onion, peppermint, mint, red pepper, and black pepper. I will create something nasty for cheap.

I have a folded up paper towel on both sides of the engine bay, and put a couple drops of McCormick peppermint oil that grocery stores sell, on each paper towel when I add windshield washer fluid, and also a couple drops in a few other areas in the engine bay.

The Peppermint use to come with a nice cap that was good for dispensing only a few drops. Now it's just a regular cap, but there is a white plastic seal also. Don't remove that white plastic seal that is heat sealed to the bottle. Instead just put a pin-hole in the white plastic seal. The bottle is just flexible enough to allow you to squeeze out a few drops at a time, or you can shake some out.

I put a block of rodent poison on the battery of my F150 which sits a lot. It stays on there when driving. When I raise the hood I can see if it's been chewed on. It gets chewed on every winter but I've had no rodents. If you get a groundhog in your field, just put one of those blocks down the hole and no more ground hog.

The rodent blocks are the best. I throw them under the pallets in my wood shed to keep it rodent free.

I use this in the bait stations. It’s been very effective.

It's getting warm enough now where the rodents aren't looking for a warm place to hide. I will give it a try this winter. Tried the irish spring method. I found out the mice ate it.

I tried that, but after they chewed up a $300 hood liner and the foam under the engine cover, I wanted to kill them. I wasn’t going to wait for them to ruin the main harness.

That's why I have been using this Repel all from day one. I live in the woods
