Godfather's Pizza building in Cedar Falls sold to corporation led by former Kryton CEO (2024)

CEDAR FALLS — Kevin Harberts, founder and former CEO of Kryton Engineered Metals, has ties to the company that recently purchased the old Godfather’s Pizza building at 1621 First St.

The plans for the space are not known, however, as he did not respond to multiple calls and messages Thursday.

Mick Timmerman, Godfather’s former longtime and now retired owner, sold the half acre and 3,280-square-foot building last month for $938,000 to KRH Holdings, a company led by Harberts, according to online property and business records. He also did not respond to requests for comment.

The signs for the former pizza parlor have since been taken down. It opened there in the late 1970s and closed Feb. 23. Timmerman had owned the business since 2001. Before him, the owners were first Rigel Corp and then Kevin Stubbe.

The building is across the street from the newly opened Casey’s convenience store at Hudson Road and First Street.

In addition to running KRH Holdings, Harberts is a real estate agent with Berkshire Hathaway.

He retired in 2022 from Kryton, “the metal spinning & metals fabrication world” as he refers to the profession on his LinkedIn page. That’s also when KRH Holdings gave up 7314 Chancellor Drive, the 10 acres in the industrial park Kryton now owns and operates.
