Inspired by this thread, what have you completed this year? Have you been making progress on your backlog? Or have you been replaying some old favourites?

For me it's:
Bravely Default (3DS)
Horizon Forbidden West (PS4)
Spider-Man (PS4)
Spider-Man Miles Morales (PS4)
Pokémon Legends Arceus (Switch, 2nd playthrough)
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch)
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (Switch)

Not as much this year due to work, hoping to finish Digimon Survive (all routes!) and Yakuza Like a Dragon by December Games you've beaten in 2022 (4)

I haven't really played many new games this year.

Not many. I've started quite a few but I haven't finished a lot of them. I was preoccupied over the summer, and since then I've mostly just been playing open-ended games or ones that I've already beaten. Maybe that could change by December though.

Games that I've completed/replayed from beginning to end:

  • Miitopia (Switch)
  • Tetris Effect: Connected (Switch)
  • Pokémon Snap (N64)
  • Pokémon Puzzle League (N64)
  • Deltarune: Chapter 2 (PC, Switch)

This year I also completed the Pokédex in Let's Go Eevee, the National Dex in Brilliant Diamond (mostly), and got three stars on every 150cc cup thus far in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

New:
Xenoblade Chronicles DE, 2, and 3
Pokemon Legends: Arceus (which I keep forgetting came out this year)
Digimon Stories: Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory
Digimon Survive (didn't do all the routes, but got truthful so close enough)
Harvestella

Replayed:
Pokemon SWSH
Pokemon ORAS
Monster Hunter Stories 2

Oh boy, this is gonna be a big list. I'm pulling this from my Backloggd page, as well as my memory for the last couple months as I've been bad at recording that stuff.

  • Mario's Super Picross (SNES) - finished this one in early January, after playing it for most of 2021
  • BioShock Remastered (Switch) - finished in January
  • Luigi's Mansion 3 (Switch) - finished in January, co-op playthrough with my girlfriend
  • Astro's Playroom (PS5) - finished in January
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade (PS5) - finished in January
  • Pokemon Conquest (DS) - finished in February, replay
  • Pokemon Legends Arceus (Switch) - finished in February
  • Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS) - finished in March
  • Triangle Strategy (Switch) - finished in April
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land (Switch) - finished in April
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch) - finished in June
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna: The Golden Country (Switch) - finished in July
  • Stray (PS5) - finished in July
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (Switch) - finished in September
  • Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion (Switch) - finished in October
  • Picross S2 (Switch) - finished in November
  • Splatoon 3 (Switch) - finished the story in November

And that's it! It looks like a lot, but there are surprisingly fewer games than I thought would be on this list, actually. That's because there are a lot of games that I've been playing for a long time that I'm very close to finishing, but not quite there yet. For example, my Pokemon HeartGold nuzlocke replay, Monster Hunter Rise, and Chrono Trigger DS I've been playing for a couple of months now, but haven't finished quite yet. There are also a couple of games that I've played a ton of this year, but don't really have endings to them, like Enter the Gungeon and Fall Guys.

I mostly replayed old games this year as opposed to starting new ones, so not a lot of new stuff to report this time around! I finished Danganronpa Decadence and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond towards the beginning of the year, beat all three routes of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes over the summer, and will probably (maybe?) complete Persona 5 Royal and Pokemon Violet before this month ends.

Editing to add that I did in fact complete Persona 5 Royal before 2022 ended, but did not complete Pokemon Violet. I'm very close to the end, though!

Okay, now that 2022 is over, it's time to make the list!

Beyond Divinity (started at the end of 2021 and finished early this last year)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Half-life 2 + Lost Coast
Mass Effect 2 (replay)
Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga (Xbox 360; replay)
Divinity: Original Sin (played and finished before on PC but finished Xbox One port of the Enhanced Edition for first time)
Quake (classic)
Middle-earth: Shadow of War (started as a Twitch stream, then I abandoned that and finished this on my own time)
The Witcher 2
Jade Empire (replay)
Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes (replay)
Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror - Director's Cut
Pokémon: Let's Go Eevee!
Baldur's Gate (Classic; replay, and I finally completed Durlag's Tower for first time! Games you've beaten in 2022 (35))
Final Fantasy VI Advance (replay)

Games I streamed, and finished, on Twitch:
Baldur's Gate Classic (yeah, I didn't really finish this stream/Let's Play series until early 2022; this is not the same playthrough as the aforementioned replay)
Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond (this one was actually just a recorded Let's Play for YouTube; first playthrough)
Torchlight
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Star Wars: The Old Republic (Smuggler Storyline; first time doing that storyline in particular)

And, aside from games that I didn't finish, I think that's all of them. And, yeah, I realized that I didn't play a single game released in 2022 (lol), but I do now have a couple that I will likely play soon - namely Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Elden Ring. Let's see how 2023 goes!

Most of the games I've played in 2022 have been replays of older games, ported or otherwise, and with a few started in late 2021. So my list is as follows:

BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites
Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak DLC
- until the next free update next month.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R - technically a replay and double-dip for Switch, since it's a remaster of the original ASB with new characters and features. Got all current characters, outfits and colors, other medals, and finished all the ASB panels + got every secret key from them; until any new campaign with outfits and new DLC arrive, currently complete.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Spyro Reignited Trilogy
- replay
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - replay
NieR:Automata - replay and double-dip for Switch, didn't get all endings before the end of the year. But, I did get at least the five that are the most canonical, so I consider that mostly complete at least.
Persona 2 Innocent Sin & Eternal Punishment - replay
Fire Emblem Thracia 776 - replay
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes - all routes and endings.
Touken Ranbu Warriors
Fate/stay night [Realta Nua]
- replay, all routes and endings.
Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate - replay
Samurai Warriors 3 - replay
Diabolik Lovers LOST EDEN - replay, all routes and endings.
Dramatical Murder re:connect - replay, all routes and endings.
Slow Damage - all routes and endings.
Sweet Pool - replay, all routes and endings.
Lamento: Beyond the Void - replay, all routes and endings.
Shin Megami Tensei V - technically replay, finished up in getting all alignment endings. (yes, I was still kind of slow in completing it)
Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne - replay and double-dip for Switch, all endings.
Tales of Arise
Persona 5 Royal
- replay and triple-dip for Switch, all endings.

That's all I've played throughout last year, not including games I'm still playing but haven't completed yet. Most of them consist of fighting games, old and new, that I haven't counted as fully completed like GG Strive and KOF XV (as well as older KOF games, though I don't really concern myself with completing them).

Ah, 2022. A far behind us year that was excellent for gaming.
Anyways, here's the games I

obliterated

beat in 2022:
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition
Undertale (All Routes)
Deltarune Chapter 1 & 2
Pokemon Legends Arceus
Pokemon Violet
Super Kirby Clash (Not 100% complete, but I've gotten 62.50% of the Platinum Medals, including all of them for the Story Mode!)
Minecraft Story Mode Seasons 1 & 2
Minecraft Dungeons: Echoing Void DLC
Sonic Frontiers
Dragon Quest XI

There's probably more, but I can't remember them all. Games you've beaten in 2022 (42)

eheh.....

Pokemon Legends Arceus (new, and I bought this game on day 1)
Pokemon Legends Arceus (again)
Pokemon Shining Pearl (new)
Samurai Warriors 5 (new)
New Pokemon Snap (new)
Pokemon Moon (2nd run)
Pokemon Ultra Moon (2nd run)
Pokemon Ultra Sun (new)
Pokemon Sun (new)
(Yes. I am crazy enough to go through all 4 Alola games back to back to back to back, and I'm contemplating on making ANOTHER run through Alola this year)
Pokemon Omega Ruby (3rd run)

I also completed Pokemon Conquest but I'm not sure if that should count because the main story is so short and the postgame is so long. I 100%ed it years back but my save file reset itself on a legitimate DS cartridge in 2021 :/.

I've also
  • Completed the ORAS National Dex, which eventually became Gen 7 National Dex, which then became all 905 existing Pokemon at the time thanks to Pokemon Home
  • Cleared all the postgame levels of Pokemon Rumble World, including World Championships X, an insane stage that's noticeably more difficult than any battle in a main series Pokemon game. I've had over 600 different players enter my hub through Adventure Sync. Not a single one of those other 600 people had beaten it despite some of them even playing the game for more hours than me and getting more Pokemon than I. The final stage was that insane.

A lot more than in 2021, which I've only beaten Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, Pokemon X, and Pokemon Y in that year.

In 2023 so far I've beaten Pokemon Yellow (new, Virtual Console), Pokemon Black (3rd run), and Pokemon Omega Ruby (AGAIN, making it the 4th run)

Pokemon Legends: Arceus. (I didn't catch every Unown though, does that still count?)

Same as above. I completed all the miscellanous quests (meaning all Unowns, all souls, and such). Didn't perfected all Pokédex entries though.
